Monticello Events is a wedding planning company based in Bucharest, Romania, with over 14 years of experience in the wedding and events industry. Founded by Izabela, Monticello specializes in organizing weddings both nationwide and internationally.
Destination weddings are at the heart of our vision, and we are constantly developing exciting projects together with our collaborators from Italy and Greece, so stay close for what’s coming next.
Izabela is the Founder, Senior Wedding Planner & Creative Director of Monticello Events. She is also a certified trainer and has been teaching professional wedding planning courses at Atelierele Ilbah Academy for over 4 years.
Today, Monticello Events is supported by a dedicated team of four professionals: Izabela, Larisa and two talented wedding planners, Dana and Ionuț, both graduates of Izabela’s Wedding Planning Masterclass.
The Story
We started our business in 2011 with lots of enthusiasm and passion. We wanted to learn everything about this industry, and so we did.
Our story started in collaboration with a catering company. We were in charge of the decorations for their events. We accompanied them everywhere, learning all the essential aspects of an event including how a kitchen works and all other unseen "pieces of the puzzle" (such a crucial aspect for having a successful event).
We had our first event as independent wedding planners in 2013, when some of our clients (Ana & Cesar) asked us point blank: "Girls, would you consider being our wedding planners? We would very much appreciate working with you fully, not only on decorations part".
We were a bit surprised and at the same time, honoured by their proposal because at that time, in Romania, the wedding planning industry was in its infancy. At that time, most of the potential clients in Romania, did not understand the concept and the need to have a wedding planner. For a few years, we had a rough time explaining them the need of having a wedding planner and the benefits of working with a professional.
Fortunately, nowadays, things have started to change. Clients are now very much aware of all the advantages of working with a wedding planner and its value.
Everything we learned about planning an event was entirely on our own, as there were no specialized masterclasses at that time in Romania. Because of this, our senior wedding planner and specialized trainer, Izabela, is very excited to have the opportunity to teach young future wedding planners all the insights of the job and as many tips and useful information as she can.

Do you specialize in destination weddings and international clients?
Yes, we specialize in destination weddings both in Romania and in other international locations.
Most of our couples live abroad, and the entire planning process is managed fully or partially online through video calls and digital communication.
No matter where you are, we can plan and coordinate your wedding seamlessly from start to finish.
How early should we book a wedding planner?
It’s never too early to book a wedding planner, but we recommend starting at least one year in advance.
We have successfully planned weddings in as little as six months, but this can sometimes mean compromising when it comes to supplier availability.
To have the freedom to choose from the very best and secure your preferred team, booking at least one year ahead is ideal.
Do you work with a limited number of clients to ensure quality?
Yes, we take on a limited number of weddings to ensure each couple receives our full attention and the highest level of service.
How often will we communicate and through what channels? Is there a limit?
We are always available to guide and support you throughout the planning process.
There is no limit to meetings, emails, or consultations — we communicate as often as needed to ensure efficient and stress-free planning. We are available through in-person meetings, online calls, WhatsApp, and email.
Do you work with suppliers we already booked?
Yes, we work with your existing suppliers, but we always conduct a background check to ensure quality and smooth coordination.
How do you help us stay within the budget?
We review the entire budget from the start, prioritize what’s most important to you, and make sure to stick to the initial plan throughout the process.
We also provide a shared Excel sheet with all costs, deposits paid, and remaining balances, updated in real time so you can always see how much has been paid, what is still due, and the total costs at any given moment.
Will you be there on our wedding day?
Yes, we will be there from the moment the first supplier arrives at the venue until the last important moment of the evening.
We ensure that all preparations run according to plan, that suppliers deliver what was contracted and on time, and we handle any unexpected situations that may arise.
Events are unpredictable by nature — never assume anything will go exactly as planned.
During the event, we make sure the timing is perfect for everything, including food service, entertainment, and special moments.
Our work concludes after the last key moment of the evening, usually the cake cutting or bouquet toss.
How many team members will be present at the event?
The number of wedding planners attending will be decided based on the complexity of the wedding, the number of guests, and the overall workload.
Each team member has a dedicated role, from coordinating suppliers and timing, to overseeing styling and guest experience, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
